Very poor experience. Went to get dinner, yes it was like maybe 10:30. Server was not very attentive. Pretty sure she didnt want another table. But we stayed. Did not check in us once we got our food. Only to give us our check. Not very good. She was bice but not so good of a server. Was in a hurry to go home.
Me and my family went on Veterans Day. I have my mother who is retired and my two brothers who are active and actually just came down to visit , so we wanted to go out to eat and our choice was Applebee’s . Now we live in salem va but we use to live near this one and went plenty of times and like it. Well last night we had plenty of issues. We had a big party of nine , Five adults and four kids( 10, 4,4, 3 months) When we came in the girl Greated us and asked how many we told her and she quickly said we have no open tables they are all full , my mother (non active duty ) asked how long it would be and the waitress stated she didn’t know , my mother looked around and told her she can put together two tables or put us in a booth she can clearly see that was open just not clean. Can you believe what happen next the lady huffed and puffed like we were bothering her, Sorry but this is your job and we didn’t even catch a attitude with her , you can tell she was having a rough night and needed break but that’s her choice to say something to her boss not trip because she had to do more than one job , anyway so she got us our table and we situated ourselves which we told her we would do , she didn’t have to do, we had our usual services , order our drinks appetizers, meals , ok so at this point my twins are acting a little up which kids do (those dang tablets on the table, parents worst nightmare lol) one of my twins wasn’t having a very good night cnt really say what was wrong but thats kids for you and the game wasn’t helping ( wish they had more kid games some are too hard for them they are a little behind for there age group) any way I tried my best to keep him quiet the best I could do so ppl around could enjoy their meal and so my family can enjoy our meal, The appetizer was great but the food wasn’t so great didn’t taste like usual and my mother said she felt the food was rushed, (Side note my brother Hurd ppl asking the waitress if they could get there meals free because my kids were loud , as a mother I obviously was embarrassed who wouldn’t be if your kids acting up and specially being a black female in predominantly white area you get more stigmatized, but you would think most ppl were parents and sometimes you have to put your foot down And make your child just deal , only way to learn , removing doesn’t always work ) Now I’m not saying we didn’t have some good services from some of the workers but didn’t feel like the usual welcoming Applebee’s (which I’ve brought my loud kids to plenty of times and didn’t feel as bad as I did ) Maybe it was because of Veterans Day idk but Just not feeling it .
Only 3 or 4 waiters/waitresses on a Friday night?? Seated right away. Had to wait 10 min to place drink order then wait another 10 after they sat on the bar. Felt like the waitress really didn't want to be there. When the food came, did come out hot and delicious. We were not the only ones not happy. Others actually brought their cup up to the waitress for a refill
I would give this place 0 stars if it was an option. Used to be a great place. Last couple visits have been pathetic to save the least. When you walk in there is 3-4 waitresses sitting at a high top table eating appetizers. Terrible business management. After the waitress forgot a beverage after 2 visits we said we would just go somewhere else, she mocked us and was very rude. Will never go back.
Worst experience ever, terrible service. Waited over and hour for salads/food. And still did not get the orders right. By the time the food came it everything was cold and many other people around us did not receive their food either. There were many other problems wrong with this restaurant. I would definitely not be coming back to an Applebees anytime soon. They ruined my experience
